Driveways & Access TracksBundaberg Region

Gravel driveways, driveway preparation for concrete and rural access tracks across Bundaberg, Gin Gin and Childers, cut, drained and compacted to last. Deal directly with the owner-operator for the box-out, the road base and a driveway that stays put through the wet season.

What’s included

Clear Scope. Solid Base.
No Guesswork.

QES handles the earthworks side of the driveway — from the cut and drainage to road base delivered, spread and compacted — and leaves a finished gravel driveway, or a base ready for your concreter or asphalt contractor. Every driveway and access track across the Bundaberg region is quoted after a free site visit and operated by the owner.

Included in our scope

  • New gravel driveways — cut, shaped for drainage, road base compacted in layers
  • Driveway preparation for concrete, exposed aggregate or asphalt — boxed out with a compacted base ready to pour
  • Rural access tracks and farm driveways, with table drains and culvert trenching
  • Resheeting and regrading gravel driveways that have rutted or washed out
  • Road base and gravel delivered by our 10T tipper as part of the job

Available by agreement: hardstands and parking pads for caravans, boats and machinery, and removal of an old concrete driveway.

Not included

  • Concrete, asphalt and bitumen surfacing — your surfacing contractor pours or seals over our base
  • The crossover in the council road reserve — needs council approval before work starts; we prepare the property side to meet it
  • Driveway design for steep or engineered sites — we work to your plans where they exist

Before we start

What We Check At The Site Visit.

We assess drainage, the base and material, access and the ground under the existing surface before quoting.

Drainage

  • Crossfall and grade so water runs off the driveway, not down the middle of it
  • Table drains, spoon drains or a culvert at low points, and where the water goes once it leaves

Base & Material

  • Box-out depth for the traffic it will carry — a car, a caravan or a truck
  • Road base or gravel type, and how many tipper loads the length and width need

Access & Services

  • Tipper access to tip material along the driveway rather than double-handling it
  • Before You Dig plans checked, and any private lines in the driveway line confirmed with you on site

Existing Surface & Approvals

  • Sand, clay or rock under the existing surface, and any old driveway to come out first
  • Whether any part of the work touches the council road reserve

A good site visit avoids surprises on the day.

We confirm the drainage and the loads so the driveway is right first time.

Your quote & next steps

From first call to finished driveway.

Every driveway and access track is quoted individually after a free site visit, with the scope and material confirmed in writing.

  1. Get in touch

Tell us the site address, your preferred timing and whether it’s a gravel driveway, preparation for concrete or a rural track.

  2. Free site visit

We walk the driveway with you — or your concreter — and check drainage, access and the ground before preparing the quote.

  3. Quote & booking

Review the written quote, including the tipper loads allowed for. Once accepted, we agree a start date around any pour.

  4. Cut, base & compact

We cut and box out, shape for drainage, deliver and spread the road base and compact in layers — or leave a prepared base ready to pour.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on length, width, box-out depth, drainage and how many loads of material are needed, so we quote after a free site visit rather than quoting a rate per metre. Call 0480 126 549 and we will come out and price the actual driveway.

Yes. Our 10 tonne tipper delivers road base and gravel from local suppliers as part of the job, so the material turns up with the machine rather than as a separate delivery you have to organise — the same tipper that imports fill for house and shed pads. If you already have a supplier or material on site, we work with that.

Yes. In most cases the driveway failed because water was running down it rather than off it. We regrade the surface, fix the drainage — crossfall, table drains or a culvert — and resheet with fresh road base, compacted so it stays put.

For the crossover, yes. Bundaberg Regional Council treats the section between the road and your property boundary as road reserve: the property owner must apply through council’s Application to Carry Out Works within the Road Reserve before any work starts, whoever builds that section must hold at least $20 million public liability cover, and Before You Dig plans must be obtained first. Council doesn’t build or maintain the crossover either — the owner is responsible for it from the boundary to the road. Inside your boundary, larger cuts or fill can still need approval under the planning scheme. We prepare the property side, tell you at the site visit if any part of the job touches the road reserve, and council gives the definitive answer.

We do the preparation, not the pour. We box the driveway out to depth, bring in and compact the road base and leave it ready for your concreter or asphalt contractor. If you don’t have one, we can coordinate timing with yours so the base isn’t sitting open for weeks. Builders and concreters: see how we work with builders.

The site address, roughly how long and wide the driveway or track is (a sketch on a satellite image is fine), photos along the route and of where water runs or sits after rain, and what will drive on it — cars, a caravan or trucks. Tell us whether you want a finished gravel surface or a base for your concreter, and their pour date if it is booked. Photos can be uploaded with the quote form.

Yes — Gin Gin, Childers, South Kolan, Bucca and the rural districts around Bundaberg are part of our service area. Multi-day rural jobs work best for travel, and while we are on the property we can look at other rural earthworks — house and shed pads, pool excavation, drainage, dam clean-outs or clearing — in the same visit.
